Hi,

I would like to know if it is possible to move my ESXI VM's to FreeNAS VM's? (Not Jails, not Docker, but FreeNAS VM)

I have a server with ESXI 6.5 and a NAS running FreeNAS 11.1-U6. I want to go back to 1 physical machine. (FreeNAS for storage and the VM's)

Some of the ESXI VM's are Ubuntu Server 16.04, and there is one CentOS7 VM. Can I copy the VMDK to FreeNAS and import them or something similar? (OVF for example?)

Please let me know.

Thanks.

You're probably better off keeping ESXi and making FreeNAS one of the VMs in it (passing through the storage controller).

If you really want FreeNAS as the bare-metal host, then would be a case of taking the VMDK and going through a fiddly process to make it work in bhyve... like this article describes https://justinholcomb.me/blog/2016/03/26/migration-to-freebsd-part4.html
