Hello. I don't usually, but the other day I had a screen attached to my server and during boot i noticed "Failed" this and "error" that, though my system appears to function normally. Is this something to be concerned about or is it normal? Are there any checks i can fun or something?

Thanks,
Chris.

Unless you can provide the exact messages, there's no way to know. What you are saying is that "my car has a some light that comes on on the dashboard, is that good or bad?" Well, unless you plan to tell us which light there's no way to know.

Do the messages appear in /var/log/dmesg.today (or .yesterday)? If so, post the exact error.

Haha i guess you're right. The thing is they fly past so fast that it would be impossible to make a note without filming it or something.

I will have a look.

Cheers guys!

Ok but for whatever reason the file no longer exists :S

Between myself and Gigabyte we discovered that there was something wrong with my motherboard, specifically the USB side of it (boots were hit and miss and i had to change ports with each boot to stand any chance of it starting). After coming to the conclusion that the USB controller was faulty (I'm guessing here, but seems to make sense), today i switched from a USB flash drive to an SD card via an SD to SATA conversion card i ordered from ebay (I used CopyCat X to clone the USB drive to the SD card).

Could it have been the apparent USB issues that were causing the errors? I've been having many problems with FreeNas to the point where people obviously thought i was doing something stupid and never bothered to help me. Because the files no longer exist does this mean that FreeNas has "fixed" itself? I did make a copy of the file when i was told by dlavigne to have a look, but i have since deleted it becuase it seemed like no one was willing to help.

Are there any steps i can take to identify any issues FreeNas might have?

Thanks for the reply.
Chris.

No, not in this topic. Other problems.

Am i to assume there are no longer any errors?

You tell me! Your the one with the problem, then i asked for the error messages themselves.

Haha. I already said that the previously mentioned file no longer exists. Is there any other logs or files i can post that can identify hidden problems? I want to make sure FreeNas is running sweet. :)

Chris.
