Hey guys,

So I hadn't logged on to my freenas server in like six months (the thing just works!), and I tried yesterday, only to find I couldn't even remember my password. =) (I have to change my two-three work passwords every month, so it can get pretty confusing...)

Question, then : how do I change that again? =) I did try a slew of them, including the one I use to log in to the webGUI (which still works).

Thanks!

Go to the machine locally. One of the menu options will let you choose to reset the password. From there you log into the GUI and you can reset your user passwords however you wish.

So there's an option on the root menu specifically for changing the SSH password? Because I can still log on to the webGUI, just not SSH into the box.

The user "admin" is a special internal account for the GUI, you can have a completely different user named "admin" using SSH. So look at your user accounts in the GUI and make sure you're changing the correct user.
