I just noticed. If I go through the GUI, Storage/Pools/Pool & Status I get a list of drives in the pool

If I go to the shell and type zpool status I get

Now the GUI version is much more readable than the shell version. Is there any reason they are different ?

The shell utility pre-dates the GUI, and actually better represents the fact that ZFS doesn't care about which device partition is where. It tracks pool members by gptid. Note, you can get much more info on which gptid corresponds to which device partition by running gpart list.

OK, that makes sense. I have already done a visio diagram of which drive goes in which bay and what its called. I might put the gptid in that as well if I can match them up

glabel status will help with that... you're usually looking for the p2 (second partition) on each disk to grab the gptid from that.
