Hi,

I successfully flashed my Dell Perc H310 to IT mode a while back. Where first I got the Dell firmware screen at bootup, it was gone after I flashed it.

Now I got a second Dell Perc h310 which I also flashed, the exact same way as before using this guide:
http://everythingshouldbevirtual.com/dell-perc-h310-and-nexentastor

However now at boot I get an LSI screen (attached in picture). And strangely it shows my drives that are connected to my old card... As the new card is somehow influencing the old card?

Can anyone confirm that both my cards are in IT mode?

I've attached some screenshots from the configuration menu.

Thanks for the feedback!
K.

Hi, I did it on a separate system just not to mess things up.

I can try to do it again.

However it says under FW revision that it is running an IT mode FW?

Or does the fact that I can reach this kind of menu means that the flashing was unsuccessful?

Thanks for the feedback, should I also insert the sas address afterwards?

sas2flsh -o -sasadd 500605bxxxxxxxxx

Cheers,

You need P16 IT mode, not P17.

Avoid flashing both with the extension ROM. If you want it, flash only one of them with it.

So just to make things clear, I should just whipe everything:

megarec -writesbr 0 sbrempty.bin
megarec -cleanflash 0

And then flash the firmware:

sas2flsh -o -f 6gbpsas.fw

Then add SAS address:

sas2flsh -o -sasadd 500605bxxxxxxxxx

Sounds good?

@helloha - yes, that latest post is correct. You still want a SAS address on the card. Make sure you're using the actual address from the card's sticker.

Use P16 as @Ericloewe suggested as well or you'll have a mismatched firmware to the driver.

Things seemed to work out.

Just wondering if there is a way to determine if the card is actually running in IT mode or not?

And to check if the other card is running p16 as well?

Or do you just have to trust it a little bit.

Cheers,
K.

Aha,

So I think I have a mismatch then. It says:
  • WARNING: Firmware version 17 does not match driver version 16 for /dev/mps1
  • WARNING: Firmware version 7 does not match driver version 16 for /dev/mps0

Does this mean it's both cards that are running the wrong firmware? mps1 and mps0?

Also, does anyone have a link to the h16 firmware that is reliable? Can't seem to find anything on the LSI website…

Thanks

sas2flash will tell you everything you want to know about your controllers.

Some common ones I use regularly are:

sas2flash -listall
sas2flash -list (optionally, -c <controller number>)
