After doing a read around the forum it looks like this is grounds to replace the disk and I should do so Immediately. At the moment I have all WD green disks, is there any problem with replacing the failed green disk with a WD red as that is the path I would like to take (I think :p)

you can swap green and reds all around, don't worry about that.
You should read cyberjock's signature on why Raidz1 is dead and use Raidz2, especially if its bussiness data, which seem to be important

Yeah I want to change to Z2 I'm aware of the need but it's not possible to add an extra HDD to the current pool is it ? Also I have a pending upgrade where I will replace everything to the preferred hardware (ECC Ram etc.) just not quite there yet.
