The real advantage will be realized by huge datacenters in the form of saved electricity.

Over time, DDR4 will have much better performance than DDR3. Low-speed DDR3 already bottlenecks certain iGPUs to some extent.

Right now, saving some power (I think someone mentioned 20%?) is the big advantage, especially in datacenters running thousands of DIMMs.

It is a nice price (at least judging by DDR3 UDIMM prices - 16GB DDR3 RDIMMs are said to be dirt cheap).
