price isn't THAT bad, but what are the real advantage from this upcoming memory?

and the only MB so far to take it are the x99 boards but no IPMI feature :(

The real advantage will be realized by huge datacenters in the form of saved electricity.

Over time, DDR4 will have much better performance than DDR3. Low-speed DDR3 already bottlenecks certain iGPUs to some extent.

Right now, saving some power (I think someone mentioned 20%?) is the big advantage, especially in datacenters running thousands of DIMMs.

It is a nice price (at least judging by DDR3 UDIMM prices - 16GB DDR3 RDIMMs are said to be dirt cheap).
