Hello Everyone,

I'm new to Truenas & Freenas. So probably this is a newbie question but I couldn't find any tutorial about how to do this so I wanted to post a thread to ask.

I've created a dataset. I've started a FTP server on that dataset and I can upload files using FTP. What I need is that these files must be accessible by a webserver. I understand that creating a jail and installing a webserver inside the jail is the answer but I have no idea how to create this jail on this specific dataset. I couldn't find any tutorials about it.

Can you please show me the right direction step by step? There is no option to choose a dataset when creating a jail.

Thank you so much in advance.

No, that would be a matter of adding a mount point to the jail once it's created. The jail goes in its own dataset, but you can give it access to other datasets elsewhere on your system, and then install some sort of web file manager in the jail. But before going to that trouble, you might want to investigate whether WebDAV can do the trick for you.

Thank you so much for your reply. We need to access via http/https so we'd need a webserver.

I'll create a jail and then mount required dataset to this jail. I think this is the way to go. I'll do my tests.

Thanks.
