Creating a custom alert in 11.2-U7

I just upgraded from 11.1-U6 to 11.2-U7. I was using this hack Creating a Custom Alert to generate my own alerts which worked well. How would I do it in the new interface? Any help would be appreciated.

Were you able to resolve this? If not, what error do you get when you try to reuse your script?

No I have not been able to resolve this. Looks like the alert system was completely reworked so the old script doesn't do anything since the directory it was in is no longer being used. I would like to know how I could generate alerts into FreeNAS using the new system but can't find any documentation to help.
