Hey Guys,

We just implemented FreeNAS in our infrastructure as a backup NAS. We are using it as NFS storage in VMware. Within it is just data VMDK's. We are having an issue with it locking up.

First we had a disk go out and since it was raid we are waiting on another disk, but today I seen this message:

MCA: Bank 5, Status 0xcc00080000010093
MCA: Global Cap 0c0000000001000c12, Status 0x0000000000000000
MCA: Vendor "GenuineIntel", ID 0x206d7, ALIC ID 0
MCA: CPU 0 COR (#@) OVER RD channel 3 memory error

Here is our setup:
Supermicro hardware
Build FreeNAS-8.3.1-RELEASE-p2-x64 (r12686+b770da6_dirty)
Platform Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2620 0 @ 2.00GHz
Memory 36816MB

We were not getting the memory error when it would lock up before, so it might be inconsistent.

I'd start with a memory test. Boot up with this software. It will auto-start a memory test and will run until you intervene. Let it run for at least 3 passes. It could take more than a couple of hours, so expect some downtime.
