So ive got FreeNAS up and running at the house but i want to be able to connect to it from another network. When i go to connect to it i just get a server timed out. I have ATT uverse as my internet provider. What do i need to do in order to access FreeNAS away from home?

This involves a basic understanding of networking.
What protocol are you trying to access remotely?
You will need to forward the ports for that protocol. Warning though, its dumb to forward your nas data out to the public internet. Be smart and use ssh tunnelling or VPN to access your data.
