Cloud Sync Task: InvalidAuthenticationToken

Hello,

a few weeks ago I enabled 2FA on my Microsoft account.
Because of that I had re-authenticate every device that was logged in to that account, which I did.

The cloud sync task has been working without any issues before that and also after that.
However today I noticed that SOME cloud sync tasks that are using the 2FA enabled microsoft account fail.
I said some because I have 4 tasks configured and 3 of them work just fine!
One of them doesn't.
Rebooting TrueNAS / Disabling-Enabling the task doesn't solve the issue.

I have 4 tasks configured and 3 of them work just fine!

Those probably still have the token from before the 2FA change (which will expire at some point and all 4 will not work).

Set up two-step verification
Two-step verification adds an extra layer of protection to your account. After you've turned it on, we'll ask you to enter an additional security code when you sign in. We'll provide this security code only to you.
In the following steps, we'll help you:

1. Make sure you have up-to-date security info where you can receive security codes.
2. Print or write down your recovery code.
3. Create app passwords for apps and devices (such as Xbox 360, Windows Phone 8 (or earlier), or mail apps on your other devices) that don't support two-step verification codes.

I suspect it's the last one that you needed to pay attention to (even if it doesn't mention NAS products or other sync apps).

You will most likely need to set up an application password (and then re-do the cloud credentials using that method).

I just tried it 3 times with new tokens.

Yes, it is working again.
But I didn't do anything since the issue is on microsofts side.

Just as a FYI.... I started encountering this issue yesterday and filed defect NAS-112397-Python script failure during Cloud Sync Task with Microsoft Onedrive, error: "InvalidAuthenticationToken: Unable to initialize RPS". In searching the Jira further, I see the following:

• TrueNAS Jira: NAS-111826 - Update rclone to 1.56.0, NAS-111451 - rclone and googleaAPI, and NAS-112135 - Rclone and Google Drive.
• rclone: InvalidAuthenticationToken: Unable to initalize RPS
• GitHub: Work around for "Unable to initialize RPS" errors from OneDrive #5270

Per NAS-112135, this issue is fixed in SCALE-21.08-BETA.1, SCALE-21.06-BETA.1.
