Hi All,

I am looking for some pointers to setup a Samba print server on FreeNAS. The printers are IP printers and FreeNAS has been added to Active directory as a member server. The FreeNAS Samba file server is working perfect. Windows clients will have to render all the print jobs locally and download the driver, I know windows can do this. So this looks really simple and easy

I am wrong, FreeNAS uses FreebSD and that little daemon is related to Satan and he is kicking my butt....

I have to do a jail because(someone hates me) the base FreeNAS does not have CUPS installed, smbd does not have cups support option enabled and all the printing options in the config file disabled.

So I am forced to use another IP address and setup a FreeBSD jail for fun. Are there other options that I am missing? Don't tell me to buy a windows server for printing. LOL

Hi Garm,

So if I do a jail can I copy the config files to get the jail on active directory? The GUI shields us from all the commands and files that are used.

Thanks,
Joe
