Setup:
* FreeNAS 8.2
* 2 Hard Drives in a ZFS Mirror
* 1 Mount point
I have a user
That user is a member of a group
That group has rwx permissions on a folder
I have a share (CIFS) that goes to the folder that the group has permissions to that the user is part of.
If I SFTP in everything works as it should.
When I browse to the freenas server using windows xp sp3 it shows the folder. I double-click on it and it asks for a user/pass. I put in the user/pass for this user and it will not take it. It will however take the root user/pass and let me in. So something needs to be working somewhere.
I have tried changing the permissions on the share to be inherited and not, and this does not change the outcome. I'm racking my brain on this.
I don't think that this matters but the folder permissions have the owner as root and the group that this user belongs to as the group on the folder that the share points to.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
******* Solution - The simplest thing (rebooting the freenas server) seems to have fixed it. I don't know why this was needed (or why I didn't think of it) but it worked. *****
