Ordering the parts in this post in about an hour. Last chance for someone to point out a flaw! Please try to save me from making a $1,500 mistake.
EDIT: Checked my email for last minute deals. Theres a Pentium G3258 (slightly newer than mine) at +.2Ghz and -1w for $4 more.... I might as well...

It may not be supported by the current BIOS version.

O why is that? I figured the G3220 and the G3258 would function almost identically?

It may not be recognized by the BIOS. I don't see Supermicro going to any trouble to add support for that processor (it was released after Haswell Refresh).

I'm reading online and it says that they released a BIOS update 2.00 for it but they may still be shipping boards with 1.1. Unfortunately I guess the only way to tell is to get the board, plug in a 1.1 compatible processor and check the version before installing the new processor... How lame....

Thanks for the last minute catch, was just trying to get slightly more speed at slightly less power, but I'm switching back to the G3220 now... anything else catch your eye?

Hello all, I'm back.

I got 4/5 packages in today. Thats right, NewEgg decided to ship in 5 different shipments, 2 of which took the same FedEx truck the entire way here. The 2 DIMMs are still in transit from New Jersey and will be here tomorrow. I guess that gives me plenty of time to figure out how to install FreeNAS on these flash drives.... But for now, the pictures:
u0CG.png

Yes, 4 different packages... How ridiculous. Top is flash drives, followed by the PSU+motherboard+switch, then HDDs+CPU, and lastly the case.
dZQi.png

My ingredients have been assembled.
7pSI.png

Mobo installed in the case.
qaLr.png

CPU installed. The CPU gave me quite a scare as lowering the load arm requires a bit of force and I didn't want to break anything. I then looked online and found it was supposed to be this way, so I loosened the clamp screw as much as possible and forced it in, then tightened the screw back slightly.
6Afu.png

The cooler had a bit of what appeared to be thermal paste on the bottom, though I've never seen it so solid (usually the thermal paste I use from a tube is quite a bit runnier). I wasn't sure if I should add some or not, but I just went with it and popped it on anyway.

I gotta say, the dual chamber design is great. I can keep all the cables in back where no one will ever see them, keeping the look through the window clean. The power supply is near perfect for this case as there are 2 cables with 4 SATA connectors each (perfect for the 4-drive bays) and then 2 more on a third cord that I can use to wrap around front if I choose to fill it up all the way. The only problem is the 2 singletons aren't spaced far apart enough for the gap in the 2 HDD spaces up front, so I will have to find a SATA power extender online (I'm sure it exists).
i6Qy.png

Sliding hard drive cages, I don't think it can get any easier than that (except of course just hotswap bays). These mounts are absolutely perfect.
7Ifr.png

All the hard drives mounted and wired up. Like I said, these will all be in RAID-Z2 together. The only problem I had is that between the power supply and the HDDs themselves, there wasn't alot of room for the SATA power/data connectors. With a little bending, and a little force it slid in though, and the screws are keeping it in place.
CKh1.png

View of the mobo that you will see through the window, finished and wired up. The only its missing are the DIMMs.
ow0u.png

Lastly the finished product :). Now I get to figure out the FreeNAS installation while I wait for the DIMMs, yay :'( thx newegg... I'll be back tomorrow with pictures of it actually running! lol

How do those hard drive brackets allow any cooling air to get to the drives? It looks as if you switched them around so the label was facing out that the slots in the mounting bracket might line up with space between the drives and allow some airflow between them.

Intel's stock coolers always come with TIM pre-applied. One site once found out that it was pretty good stuff and very intelligently applied for best effect.

Well I just tried to boot my system up. At first it gave a POST code of 15, and was beeping 5 short times with 1 long time. I looked online and it says 5 short beeps means no memory, so I took the memory out and put it back in and restarted. Now I can't get past POST code 55, it beeped at me 4 times then stopped. What does POST code 55 mean?

Well I tried alot of things, but what seemed to work is taking the DIMM out of slot 2 and putting it in slot 1. I'll try to put the second back in after installation, but it may just be a bad stick... I'll be back after installation with pics...
EDIT: Now its hung up on the installation. Idk if its supposed to take this long, but its stuck at the
base-os-9.3-STABLE-numbersssss
line so I'm not sure if its still working or....?

So you had problems with your memory and getting your new rig to post and you went ahead with an install before testing out the memory? You need to run that thing on memtest overnight to make sure your memory isn't throwing any errors.

Well it must've been they weren't installed all the way because I used a little more force than I'm comfortable with and they both work now...

The only problem I'm having now is configuring the CIFS share. I got it setup and I can connect with my desktop, but if I try to create anything I get you need permissions to do that. I've tried changing just about every permission setting I can find and nothing works.

Well I just had to restart my computer for some reason and now I can transfer files. I think it was because I was logged in as a guest instead of as my account.
WM2g.png

I don't care what you all think of that speed, but my old Stora I was only able to transfer at about 10MB/s (not gigabit clearly) so I think this is incredible. The only thing I have left to do is install Plex and get DLNA working, then maybe install MineOS and see how that works. Thanks though for all your help everyone, I think I am done here now!
EDIT: O also, I moved the flash drives from the outside of my case. I put one directly on the mobo (it has a USB3.0 slot sticking straight up near the SATA ports. Seemed odd at first, then I googled what it was for) and then one connected on the back of the mobo. Clearly it shouldn't make any difference now...
EDIT2: O and I probably wait 2 weeks to make sure everything is running smoothly before I reuse my old drives.

Ok, I said I'd never bother you all again, but problems persist...

Trying to install plex (or any plugin really) and it fails at 25% through saying "ERROR: Unable to find template!" up top? I tried googling and it seems I'm the only one with this problem... Anyone have any ideas?
EDIT: Ok, no responses here...
I found this online from someone experiencing the same problem
python /usr/local/www/freenasUI/manage.py migrate jails 0006
python /usr/local/www/freenasUI/manage.py migrate jails

service django stop
service django start
So I ran it in shell... Unfortunately it hung on service django stop so I restarted. Now when I try to install a plugin or go to jails it says
{"error": true, "message": "Error: no such column: jails_jailsconfiguration.jc_ipv4_dhcp", "events": []}
I feel as though I just made things worse...... anyone?

EDIT2: Ok, I had to start using the fresh install on the boot menu and that fixed the above error but I'm back to the unable to find template... Guess I better stop now before I break it more... I did have to wipe what little data was on the drives sadly...
EDIT3: Updated my FreeNAS version and its creating the template now... Guess thats all I needed...
