Hello guys, i bought some new parts for my NAS:

Mainboard: ASUS M5A97 (Socket AM3+ with ECC support) 50.- € <- cheap via ebay as refurbished
CPU: AMD FX-4100 (AES-NI, ECC support) 50.- € <- Used
RAM: Crucial 8GB DDR3 1600 MHz CL11 ECC Unbuffered 80.-€ <- New, meh :/

I'll combine them with a 350W Power-Supply and a 4TB HDD by Seagate, old, cheap tower, no fans, System Drive will be a LeXar 8GB USB-Stick. In addition, I wanna underclock/undervolt the CPU to 2.3GHz and 0.75V (and post the results.) -> Less power consumption, still have ECC and AES-NI.

What do you think about this?

Under clocking never really made sense to me. The cpu under clocks itself when it is idleing. And if you have the CPU pegged you would want all the power you can get. I have 6 drives, Xeon 1230, 3 fans and 2 sticks of memory which uses <50watts.
