Hi,

I am trying to change the Console Keyboard Map in Settings to be able to use Swedish characters (å ä ö) in the console, however after setting this parameter to Swedish ISO-8859-1 I am still not able to use the Swedish characters. I also tried to reboot but also that did not make it work.

Anyone know how to make it work? Or if there currently is a bug? I am using FreeNAS-8.2.0-RELEASE-p1-x64 (r11950).

Regards,
Henrik

I upgraded to FreeNAS-8.3.0-RC1-x64 (r12617) and now the Swedish characters are allowed in the Shell using the web gui, but over SSH they are still not permitted. Does anyone have a working freenas system with international characters in the console over SSH? Or should I file a bug report?

Are you sure the problem isn't with the SSH program you use? I've seen quite a few people in the forums post with problems with international characters. I'm wondering if some of the SSH programs don't support international characters or what the actual cause is. It seems like some people figure out the problem on their own, others don't.

Hi, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. It turns out that the built in ssh client in OS X lion and mountain lion is somewhat fishy...
