Hello,

Could someone help me configure the locale to French for specific users? I had a try modifying the /etc/login.conf and adding a language definition then using vipw command but did not work... login.conf was reset to default after reboot.

Anyways, would greatly appreciate some help :)
Many thanks,
David

Hi, sorry but i cant help you with specific iss, but i know that the base OS is reset on every reboot so any changes you make are lost - that's normal behaviour. I have seen some users use scripts to run at start-up to replace the file each time with the one you want.

hello!
Dusan replys:
login.conf was reset to default after reboot
You do not need to edit the system wide login.conf. Just create a new user end experiment with ~/.login_conf (the .login_conf file in his home directory).
(This won't work with roots home directory as the one is also on the read only root filesystem.)

works perfectly ! thank you so much :)
That means I can now use a software on windows boxes (craete synchonicity) that will save automatically the files on freenas !

next step make deltacopy (rsync+cygwin) work properly with those chinese caracters !
I'm almost there, I can feel it :)
