any ideas, I have a new mobo that i would like to use (intel D2700MUD) but the video is scrambled and a correction for it is in freebsd kernel 9. So I have two problems that i need to solve only one so i can solve the other. The video problem (no eyes) is the first and the other problem is really the intel GE card that is not configured in the installation. I can edit the configuration with the old mobo still in use or use vmware host to alter installation.

How do I change the network settings before is swap the mobo? I could manually set address or dhcp any way so can connect to the box but I would need to know what the intel will use as interface name wouldnt I?

I think the old interface is re0. but I dont know what the intel cards are going to be, and i cant check as i cannot see the terminal output and i cant connect to it remote. I have no eyes on terminal because the display is garbled (everything prints on 1 line) and I havent gotten framebuffer to work with setting vidcontrol. It just doesnt turn on framebuffer. Of course Im typing blind and dont see what modes are available...

And as I cant connect to the box because the network interface name is not the same and because of that the network configuration is wrong I need help on configuring it in advance in the config.

Or i need to get my eyes back on the console by editing config to set framebuffer directly on boot. Any suggestions of what video modes i should try?

Can you plug in a temporary video card? It should take over duties from the internal automatically. Finding a PCI one might be a trial unless you have a good stock of old PCs nearby...
