Hi Guys

I am pretty new to Freenas and I am just using it as a storage and plex media server ATM. I want to add Ubuntu to the VM. I have follow many youtube vids but I keep on getting the same error message. I start it up and switch to VNC, but it is so slow in doing anything after a while it shows the load screen but then I get " Unable to find a medium containing a live system file". I have got my ISO on a dataset and linked it to my CD Rom Device in VM and I have created a Zvol for it to be install in. I just don't know what I am doing wrong.

I am using Freenas 11.1.

The error message suggest it could be a problems with the actual iso. Which iso is it? Have you tried another iso , or tried re-downloading it, or re- transferring it to FrreNAS?

Yeah I tried all of that as my first idea. I am trying to download the full version that I have use on that pc before. Dog you think I need the light version as it's going on VM ?

Depends what your were intending to do, server or desktop? But you've still not said exactly which iso you are attempting to use, which version of Ubuntu? FreeNAs 11.1 will not work with anything based on kernel 4.15 and above. That's only been fixed in the 11.2 betas. So try an iso from the Ubuntu 16 LTS release.
