Good morning:

I recently moved my server to a new network and when I went to reconnect to my server, I could no longer see the files that were previously stored on the hard drives attached to my Freenas box. Initially I couldn't see the server, but after I upgraded to the newest version (9.2, I think) I could see the server but not the volumes I had created. I did an auto-import on the volumes and they show up fine in the GUI, but I can't see them on my Windows 7 client.

I'm guessing this is a permissions issue, but I'm stuck as to how to fix it. I'm very new to this, it has been many months since I set up the server and because it had been working so well I may have forgotten some of the steps I used to set it up initially.

Any help, guidance, or suggestions would be welcome. I have read a lot and continue looking, but much of the information is over my head. Thanks for your help in advance.

If you did a fresh install for the 9.2 upgrade and imported your volumes, did you remember to set-up and turn on your shares?

I went into services and turned on CIFS. Is there more to it than that?

You need to create the shares as described in Section 7.3 of the manual.

Ok, I'll give that a shot again. Thank you for the direction. I'll follow-up to let you know how it turns out.

Ok, I followed the steps in 7.3 for setting up the CIFS shares, but I still cannot see them on my Windows 7 machine.

I went through it all again, and for some reason, this time it worked. Thanks for your help, krikboh, I really appreciate it!

May have just needed to restart the CIFS service after setting up the shares.
