I've tried 9.10, 9.3, and a test of 10 and I got the same thing every time.

Your system is not something anyone will ever recommend, not good hardware for freenas. I think it should boot though. Have you checked the freebsd bugs for this error?

Ahhh I have seen this before, I don't think your board supports the current thermal interfaces and freebsd can't parse it.

I couldn't find anything in freebsd that matched but I did find some stuff on Linux and unbuntu. Is there anything I can do? Or do I have to wait for a patch for it?

Go grab a copy of straight FreeBSD and see if it will install my guess is the same problem will come up. If so file a bug ticket with the FreeBSD group so it can be fixed. After that it is a waiting game and there is no guarantee a fix will happen any time soon.

I downloaded freebsd 10.3 and i don't see an error. I got to the boot options page and when it goes to boot it hangs on /boot/kernel/kernel text=0xfe2da8

Going out on a limb here but try booting again but turn off UEFI and see if it works ok.

My guess is that you will have nothing but issues with that board. Google the errors and find a support thread over on the FreeBSD forums to see if there is a solution. Otherwise you can submit a bug ticket with them. In all likelihood the errors will be FreeBSD related.

Sorry to say but that board is going to be a headache, if you can unload it one someone else who wants a Windows or linux box it would probably work fine for it. Then lick your wounds and buy a supermicro board and a xeon, or something else that has a proven track record.

That depends on your budget and needs/wants, LOL. We can quote a system that would cost ten grand easy but it won't help much if you have 500 bucks to spend. Trolling some of the other builds will give you a good basis though.

Good deal, things go a lot smoother when you have the right parts. With the wrong stuff it's like trying to beat a square peg three sizes too big into a round hole.
