Hi all,

Anyone here using AutoFS to mount TrueNAS SMB shares on Ubuntu clients? I have been battling with this for a few days now and cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Can anyone share a snippet of their auto.master file and the corresponding mapping file?

I currently have this defined in /etc/auto.master:

And this in in /etc/auto.smb:

As I have been troubleshooting I have obviously made various changes trying to get it to work. Each time I make a change I run a 'sudo systemctl restart autofs' on the client.

The credentials file is created in the specified location with the username and password for the share.

Just cannot get it to work. Just keep getting this error in the status output:

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

OK. I have this working.

Not sure if this is right but the solution for me was to not use the auto.smb file, but rather the auto.misc file and update the auto.master file to check the auto.misc file for my mount.
