Hi,

I just installed Freenas 9.1 as I was running an older version and decided to update.
Everything works but when I install transmission in a jail and then try to connect to jailIp:9091 it just times out.

When I ping the jail from my local computer all packets are lost.
But when i ping the jail from Freenas, it works..

I'm a freeBSD noob and I really have no clue how to solve it.

EDIT:
The freenas box is running inside a VMware ESXi 5.0 server.

Thanks for your help.

ROFL. Did you read the threads that say "virtualizing FreeNAS is bad". If not you should go read those, then after you've thought about it get FreeNAS out of the VM.

And your post will help me how exactly?

First of all it won't be run in a production environment so data loss is not important...
What is important is being able to ping the jail.
I visualized allot of previous freenas versions without any problem, freenas 9.1 is the first version where I cannot ping the jail from the outside.

I will try to ping the jail from another VM and see what that gives.

Ok, I applogize, I thought I added a sentence with your most likely problem. You need to make sure that the NIC is in promiscuous mode.

Thank you, promiscuous mode was indeed disabled.

Enabling it solved my problem.

Thank you!
