Hello Everyone,

sind a few Updates I'm trying to install the newest 11.2-U3/U4 updates. This works fine (I guess) but I can not boot into the new environment. The web interface tells me, it will reboot into the new 11.2-U4.1 (see screenshot attached) but when restarting and looking at grub it will boot into 11.2-RELEASE again. There is also no option for 11.2-U4.1 (See "screenshot" attached).

Is there a way to rebuild the grub options?

Regards
marove

Something is wrong with the boot environment because it is not supposed to be using grub any more. The boot loader was supposed to be changed to the native FreeBSD boot loader with the upgrade from 11.1 to 11.2
The boot menu is supposed to look like this now:

Hello Chris,

thank you for your reply. Is there any chance to fix this without an complete new installation? I'm concerned about the reimport of the ZFS-Raid-Z2. I have no chance to do an backup in beforehand.

You could delete the U4.1 boot environment and try the update again. Or you could save your config and do a fresh install. Neither method affects the storage disks, though if they are encrypted ensure you have a copy of the key and know the passphrase.

Hello Everybody,

deleting all the other boot environments haven't had any effect. After a backup and fresh install, the upgrade has finally worked. :) Thank you for your help.
