I have recently gotten into Kodi/XBMC. I try and stream video at HD on my Cubox i4Pro and it doesn't work so well. I was looking into solutions and came across an article that said Network attached storage could be a great solution. Looking at what was out there, FreeNAS is the way I want to go. At work, I was able to acquire a no longer being used LG Network Storage device (N2B1DD2). My question is, is there a way to install FreeNAS on this device or would I have to purchase something that is specifically for FreeNAS? I searched the internet for a couple hours looking for possible solutions but Google gave me every answer but the right one. :)

Start with the hardware recommendations and the manual. FreeNAS doesn't require custom hardware that's purpose-built for it, but it does require a fair amount of CPU and a significant amount of RAM. I haven't looked at the specs for your LG device, but I'd guess it doesn't meet those requirements.

...and the architecture is completely incompatible with FreeNAS.
