Can only use GUI fron a non-local network?

I have been messing around with openvpn and was trying to get it working (and I did sort of) but in the process of messing with it, I am now only able to access the GUI through an external network. Which is not ideal and also maybe a huge security risk I think? I think there was a setting I touched in the openvpn server interface that caused it, but I have since set it back and no change.
