Can not start SMART - problem with USB drive

Hi,
I can not start SMART monitoring service
The problem is with USB drive which host FREENAS

Code:

May 18 20:50:21 freenas smartd[87213]: Unable to register device /dev/da4 (no Directive -d removable). Exiting.

how to fix it?

smart is setup only for disks ada0-3 and da0-3

Short answer: You don't and it seriously pisses me off. And I'm not sure that 11.1-U5 fixes this, whenever the hell that gets released. 11.2 fixes this, but it's even farther away.

You might be able to workaround this by manually fixing smartd.conf and reapplying when necessary with a script.

You don't have to wait, you'll immediately get an error message in the log if smartd fails to start.
