SOLVED CAM status: Uncorrectable parity error/CRC error

Just wanted to post this here as the last reference to this error was from a few years ago (link).

I had the same problem and replaced the SATA cable and it has gone away(!) I would never have assumed that a cable would give this kind of intermittent error (of course, now that I think about it, it certainly could and did!)

Anyway, if someone has this issue: CHANGE THE CABLE!!!!! Its a 5 minute and 10 cent (well, maybe $1) fix

CRC errors either reported by SMART or by CAM can indeed be cable related (that's certainly the first thing to check/test/change), but it can also indicate either end of the controller pathway (onboard disk controller or SATA/SAS controller) or the backplane/expander in the case of a system which has one... typically more expensive to replace.
