is this the first time logging in? if so it's asking you to set a username and password. You don't need to set a password if you want your btsync webinterface accessible without logging in.

It is my first time logging in but I have typed in all sorts of usernames and passwords and none are acceptable. It is a browser prompt, not a btsync prompt.

somehow a password was set on your btsync. either fresh install btsync, or edit the config after stopping btsync. in this case, for this setting your changes shouldn't get overwritten

Where do I add the text below? There are 2 sets of "{ }" within the conf file. Do I add the text within one of them or outside of both?
"login": "admin"',
"password": "password",

I'm not sure. There is documentation of btsync's config file available online.

But, actually I take back recommendation of editing the config file. I remembered that user/pass are by defult stored in btsync's database, and whatever is in the config just hardcodes over it. Since this is a new install I recommend reinstalling btsync.

That worked. After reinstalling the first time I clicked "here" it opened up a page asking for username and password. Thanks for the help.

I had this issue today, I have no idea how I did not save the password as I use a password manager. Anyways, this is how you fix this...

1 - Stop the Resilio / BTsync Service
2 - Login to the jail
3 - Navigate to /var/db/resilio
4 - Remove the settings.dat and settings.dat.old files
5 - Restart the plugin

You will be prompted like this is a new account, however all of your sync folders will be there and not effected.
