BitTorrent Sync security

I was just about to install BitTorrent Sync on my iPhone when I read this:

Well one of the biggest complaints of BTSync is that it's closed source. So nobody really knows what it's all doing and that's never good for security.

Not that this has anything to do with your link, just generalizing. The claim does seem BS to me though.

That review reads like a troll. For one, apps can't get access to contacts, etc without prompting the user, unless they've found some exploit, in which case it'd be pulled pretty quick if it's been cornered by CNN.

Next, I've never seen an ad in the app. And certainly never when the app is in the background. Pro tip: bit torrent sync doesn't support background app refresh so it's limited to around 10 minutes of background tasks.

Bottom line, it's a bullshit review.
