Hello,
I have a laptop and would like to backup all my files on it while preserving permissions, ACLs and groups.
Biggest (main) problem is that you need a 1-to-1 mapping of users/groups on FreeNAS, which is not possible for me (there are just so many users, I'd need a script to automate it).
The second problem is that I need to be root to apply some permissions, which is pretty hostile over SSH (I'm using rsync).

Is there any alternative/backup solutions I can apply for incremental backups that would preserve those files metadata?
I was considering using iSCSI (although I have ZERO experience with such a thing).

Needless to say, backing up on a USB drive was much simpler, hence the iSCSI thought.
