Asus Lockerstor 8 and ECC

Hi,

I recently ordered an Asus Lockerstor 8. I would like to use it with ECC-Memory. If this works is still an open question:
- The support says no and advised me to a higher priced model. That makes sense for them, not necessarily for me.
- Intel says that the Atom used on Lockerstor supports ECC Memory (Intel on Atom)
- Reddit says Yes (Reddit) with the argument that the "D3538 is a SOC" and therefore motherboard support doesn' matter

Does anyone here use this NAS with ECC Memory and can either confirm that it does work or that it does not work - in which case I would buy cheaper memory?

Yours sincerely
Stefan

That's not sound reasoning. Do you know that Asus routed the extra bits required for ECC? That's at least 16 additional signals in an already cramped area of the board. Do you know that the system firmware is even trying to configure the memory controller for ECC?

Unfortunately, this is often difficult to determine with certainty. Until an error is logged, anyway, that's a good sign that things are working.
