Folks,

I have an APC Back-UPS XS 1400U which is connected to FreeNAS via USB.
Everything works on it as expected however, the input.voltage is reporting as 108V. Now, living in the UK where nominal is 230V this is wrong.

Why would it be doing this and how can I correct it?

I've tried switching all APC and random other versions in the dropdown but they either report 108ish or the service does not start.

Code:
battery.charge: 100
battery.charge.low: 30
battery.charge.warning: 50
battery.date: 2001/09/25
battery.mfr.date: 2015/05/10
battery.runtime: 2896
battery.runtime.low: 120
battery.type: PbAc
battery.voltage: 27.3
battery.voltage.nominal: 24.0

driver.version.data: APC HID 0.96
driver.version.internal: 0.41
input.sensitivity: medium
input.transfer.high: 280
input.transfer.low: 155
input.voltage: 108.0
input.voltage.nominal: 102
ups.beeper.status: enabled
ups.delay.shutdown: 20
ups.firmware: 926.T1 .I
ups.firmware.aux: T1
ups.load: 14
ups.mfr: American Power Conversion
ups.mfr.date: 2015/05/10
ups.model: Back-UPS XS 1400U
ups.productid: 0002
ups.realpower.nominal: 700
ups.serial: 3B1519X22971
ups.status: OL
ups.test.result: No test initiated
ups.timer.reboot: 0
ups.timer.shutdown: -1
ups.vendorid: 051d

I worry that if we receive a brown-out then the UPS won't switch over.

Thanks

My first thought was to check the wall receptacle and see if that has an issue.
My 240v setup here in the US has two "legs" of 120v each, but I'm not keen
on UK electrical systems...

Given that the the unit reports
Code:
input.transfer.high: 280
input.transfer.low: 155

it would appear that it is correctly programmed for the limits, but it is surprising that it reports
Code:
input.voltage: 108.0

BUT DOES NOT TRANSFER.

I don't believe this is "a FreeNAS thing"- it might be NUT, but it seems to me more likely that signal output programming of the UPS has a glitch - I suggest that you contact APC (Schneider) and address it with them for starters.

@BigDave, the UK domestic supply is 230V line and a neutral (latter usually bonded to ground by supplier) - I was surprised by the configuration here when I immigrated.

EDIT - what does APC's Powerchute software report for the unit (if you've hooked it up to a PC with that sw running...)?

Do you know the history on why that is? I read up on it once because I was looking for some related information on how the systems worked and got the history lesson as a side effect. The 230 volt system used in Europe is actually newer and more advanced (better) than the system we have here in the US.

I'll hook up powerchute when I get home and see. 108 is real as it fluctuates.
230 / 110 * 108 = 225 which is not outside unreasonable with various margins.I'll dig a little.

OK, hooked up PowerChute and get good data

So deff something wrong with nut and understanding the voltage from UPS.
