Hi guys, was just wondering if there is anyone out there running Freenas with an AMD processor and a supermicro motherboard. I like how the supermicro AMD board allows for 128GB of ECC ram for the distant future memory upgrades but I'm not to sure on compatibility or bugs with the AMD chips. Anyone have any thoughts or experience on this?

To be honest, I'm not sure I've seen anyone with a Supermicro AMD board. It does make me wonder how it will do with FreeNAS since AMDs are statistically at higher risk than Intel's to not function(and sometimes not even boot FreeNAS). But Supermicro stuff is pretty good quality. So it would be interesting to see how it does.

From what I've seen, once you start going past the 32GB of RAM mark you're probably wanting some serious power anyway. AMD really doesn't provide serious competition in the higher end. So you might be cutting off your nose despite your face.
