I've been using OpenMediaVault for 2.5 Years now and wanted to try something new.
Since the GUI of FreeNAS 11 has been updated and apparently the plugins are easier to use I think the time is right.
I know i don't have ECC RAM and how this could be a risk, but i always back up my files, so do not worry. ;)
And since we already talk about the hardware, here are the parts i'll be using:
1x Intel Core i5-2400
1x ASUS P8Z68-V LX
2x Kingston 4GB + 2x Samsung 2GB
1x Transcend SSD370S 64GB
1x Seagate NAS HDD 2TB
1x Seagate BarraCuda Compute 4TB
1x Intel PRO/1000 PT
1x be quiet! Pure Power 9 300W
I only use my NAS for SMB Shares, Plex Media Server and since recently a Minecraft Server, So nothing impressive really.
Hope I don't blow anything up :D
