Greetings all,

Say you are making hardware changes to your FreeNAS configuration. What hardware component changes might it be recommended to do a fresh install?

Where I'm coming from:

I have done a lot of different hardware changes since I started using FreeNAS in 2019. Motherboards, CPU, RAM, HBA, disk shelf, ...
During 11.2, when doing certain hardware changes without doing a fresh install, I ran into reporting issues, i.e. disk temperature or CPU info not/incorrectly reporting.
In the multiple instances, doing a fresh install always solved that for me.

On a probably unrelated side note, reinstalling Windows when doing certain hardware changes is recommended/required to avoid issues.

What component changes might call for a fresh install of FreeNAS?

None (unless you count boot drive failure/replacement as a change).

The FreeNAS install isn't customised to the hardware, so will be the same even with a re-install.
