I run FreeNAS on a box with 1 SCSI drive and 3 drives attached to a RAID card.

I lost the SCSI drive to failure. I dropped in a replacment SCSI drive (exact same model and size) and installed using the same installation CD I created for the previous drive.

I have FreeNAS up and running.

Volumes : Active Volumes : Auto Import Volume sees my RAID 3 volume (named "RAID3"). I select it and it spends time supposedly importing the volume but then returns to the screen stating "No volumes defined."

Am I doing something wrong? The documentation states that RAID3 is supported for Auto Import Volume. I'd really like my volume back as it failed the day before a scheduled backup and I would lose a week's worth of data. I'd really like to recover my data and believe I should be able to do so based upon my hw and software choices.

Please let me know if you need me to provide any additional information.

OK, there's more to this story. During boot it says it finds the volume and there's a message I can't read. I need to find the logs. I'll post more when I find the logs.

Auto Import works fine unless you have two corrupted drives in your raid array.

In the process of recovering from the failure I accidentally corrupted my raid array. What I've learned from this is should I ever have a problem in the future before I attempt to re-install or do anything to the OS I will 1st disconnect the data drives to prevent accidents.

I've upgraded to 9 and restored from backup.
