Hello everyone, I have a quote for a nas at least 80 tb in zfs2.

I was valuntando some configurations, but I wanted a confirmation.

I could use a motherboard with 10 SATA ports, or I could use a mini-ITX motherboard with a sas pci card with the right cables I could offer 4x4 SATA3, and then connect up to 16 hdd.

What do you advise me?

I thought of using 32gb of ram and at least one disc of 1TB SSD cache

I would also use a 10gb NIC, but I can not figure out if the read and write performance would benefit.
Being a single-user system, the 10gb would be used direct without switch, to a single client with a 10gb pci card I would use dedicated.
Then with the traditional board would have access to the router and then to the internet etc etc.

I think? can it work?
thank you

32GB of RAM for 1TB of L2ARC? Doesn't work out. More like 128GB or 256GB of RAM.

If you only need this for one client machine, is there a good reason you don't just go with a high port count RAID controller, or better yet maybe something like an LSI9280-4i4e (cheap on eBay) plus an SC836BE16 jiggered up as an external JBOD? Or even just put your workstation right in that chassis? Seems to me like that filled with two RAID6 groups of 8TB drives would be pretty fast.
