I believe this is the edit button you're looking for.

You cannot assign ACL to top level of a pool. You first have to create datasets to which you later assign newly created SMB shares. On each dataset below top level you will see the edit pencil.

I have been trying scale on a VM for a few days now. I have now deleted the BETA and will try again in a while
The Permissions seem to be un-intuitive in the extreme with (on the latest) I have completely failed to even set up a share with SAMBA permissions. I was getting thoroughly unhelpful errors that meant nothing to me.

In addition I attached Scale to my windows domain - but in 21.08.1 I couldn't find the DOMAIN/domain users group - it didn't exist (although some did). The previous version did work - so this looks like a step back

Same issue. I did a clean build of 21.08 and joined the domain. I can see most of the users but I can't see
  • DOMAIN\domain users
  • DOMAIN\administrators

Apparently domain users and groups can appear in either or both of users or groups. I have found "domain users" under user. Apparently this is expected behavior.
Does your clean 21.08 Scale attach to the domain on a reboot or is AD faulted after a reboot? Mine faults - which makes testing a challenge. I have even tried rebuilding it several times and the same thing happens. AD integration does not survive a reboot. I am expecting a few quirks as I am building entirely on VMWare, testing for features not performance, but that seems fairly major to me

The clean one attaches to the domain. You are right. It seems to mix up groups and users. So far no faults.
My Truenas core was on VM but this one is a clean build on hardware.

Try the nightly build for testing purposes. It seems more reliable
