I have 2 shares a backup and a fileshare. I am going to use the backup to backup the computers on the network. The fileshare is the company's fileshare. But when I add anything to the fileshare it goes into the backup and the fileshare on my freenas and the same goes when add anything to my backup share it also gets added to the fileshare. They are acting as one folder yet I set them up as 2 different cifs shares.

You have both cifs shares pointing to the same root folder. Creating a cifs share does NOT create a folder.

you create a folder called backup and another called fileshare and link each cifs share to it, one share per folder

eg.

Path

/mnt/Media/Backup
/mnt/Media/Fileshare
