See attachment for error. This disk just came out my Windows PC, has NTFS on it, and gives me this error when i try to add the volume.

"Error getting available space"

Please advise.

If it is a dynamic NTFS volume it is not supported by FreeBSD. If not you could try connecting the disk to a Windows machine, eject the volume, and then retry with FreeNAS.

Are you trying to create a volume (format it) or import the volume (copy the contents of the disk)?

in addition to what krikboh suggested, i'd also suggest running CHKDSK on it, when you put it back in your windows machine.

NTFS support is a bit flaky on FreeBSD. If this has important data I'd strongly recommend you just move it from your Windows machine.

If you want to try mounting to drive in FreeNAS the drive must be ejected cleanly and should be error free. You may want to run a chkdsk in Windows as well as make sure you eject the drive properly. FreeBSD's NTFS support doesn't have any chkdsk equivalent so errors can trash your data.
