Hello. Planning on building my 1st NAS. Via initial research, I'm looking at running:
FreeNas 0.8 with ZFS
6 Hard drives (Either 1.5TB or 2.0TB) with Raidz2

In a post on another site, there was suggestion of compatibility issues between "green" drives and ZFS. I cannot find info online to support this.

Questions:
  • Can anyone confirm / refute compatibility issues with green drives and FreeNas with ZFS setup? As such, should I avoid green drives?
  • Any other drives that I should avoid?
  • Any recommended drives?
  • Sata 3.0Gb/s or 6.0Gb/s? Or doesn't matter?

Thanks for the help. Chad

Price increase secondary to flooding in Thailand. I read last week that prices will probably remain high for a relatively long time (6 months or more). Cannot wait that long. Was hoping for some deals on cyber Monday, but no substantial deals to be had.
