I think this would be ideal to incorporate into the Reports Tab in FreeNAS.

Reporting uses collectd and there is a collectd plugin for this: https://collectd.org/wiki/index.php/Plugin:HDDTemp.

Please create a feature request at bugs.freenas.org asking that this plugin be added to reporting and post the issue number here.

I saw that one but stopped when it was for .7. However, re-looking at it, it does have recent activity. Would you mind adding a comment that the above collectd module is what is needed?
