We'll need more information if you're asking for help. What is the home directory of the user accessing the share? What are the permissions on the share? What are the CIFS settings?
There are two of us accessing the server here in our home office. I use /mnt/Backup/dddexter and my wife uses /mnt/Backup/sjdexter. The shares are setup identically with "Browsable to Network Clients" and "Allow Guest Access" set to "true". Both users are also setup the same with "Disable password login" and "Lock user" both "false. CIFS settings are (from the top down in 9.1.1) Local User, freenas, WORKGROUG, FreeNAS Server, CP437,UTF-8,Minimum, Local Master and Time Server checked, Guest account is nobody, file mask 0644, Dir mask 0755, Support DOS, Enable home dir, Enable home dir browsing, Unix Extensions,m Zeroconf and Hostnames checked, no Home dir or aux. params.
The interesting development is that, while experimenting with the FTP service and FileZilla, I was suddenly able to access my share completely. So, I went back through that setup for the sjdexter share in an attempt to get the accounts identical and now sjdexter can open the directories in her share but not the files within. She gets a 550 Permission denied from FileZilla and "You do not have permission to access" from Windows. For the record, both volumes are written to a 6-drive RAIDz2 array.
I have reviewed the settings for our accounts many times and they -appear- identical -- although it is clear that something is different somewhere! Any suggestions will be diligently investigated.
