trying to password protect my folders but they are all discoverable by anyone on my network

Ive followed about 5 different videos posted on these forums, but no matter what i do all my datasets are visible to anyone on my network.

Im sitting here with my office PC, my work laptop and my wifes laptop.. and no matter what i do windows automatically shows my freenas and all its contents to every single user.

Is there a comprehensive guide to password protecting these folders? seems that as soon as i enable SMB that everything just becomes available to anyone on my network.

To be sure: Each dataset has a unique owner and group? And user A is not in group B and vice versa?

I take it your shares are SMB?

Are your datasets Unix or Windows permissions?
