Does NUT have support for any new APC models? Some of these ate great deals, but it'd be nice to have FreeNAS integration.

I know about the compatibility list, but I notice that there isn't anything from APC that looks current. Though I suppose I should maybe stop looking for exact model numbers and accept "APC Back-UPS Pro USB" as covering things like "APC BR1500G BACK-UPS Pro".

Yes, most models of the same "series" should work. Of course APC may reuse their lineup and newer models can work differently. Which is why I would search the mailing list as it will have the most updated information.

More confusion?

Another thing to remember is that Smart protocol is not USB protocol. If you have UPS with both USB and serial ports, then depending on how you connect it, you will need either apcsmart or usbhid-ups driver.

That sounds like the serial connection uses the "smart" protocol and is the one that splits into three groups. USB would be fine in all cases?
