Black screen with an underscore on booting after fresh installation

Hi!

I followed the instructions and managed to install FreeNAS on my external hard drive, but after several different attempts, I'm still getting stuck on a black screen with just an underscore on booting.

I tried the following things: creating the installation media with Rufus as well as with Image Writer, deleting the partitions on both medias and wiping everything.

Device info for the installation media:
USB drive 3.0 Sandisk

Device info for the storage device:
Adata SSD with USB 3.0 to Micro-B cable

ADATA

ADATA Product

Does someone have an idea why that issue is happening?

Welcome to the forums!

Onto what bootable device are you installing FreeNAS (it cannot be run from the storage device)?

The bootable device needs to be selected as the default boot device for the computer to which the storage device is attached.

Please tell us something about the computer on which you wish to run FreeNAS - processor, memory, etc.
