Hi there,

I am totally new to FreeNas (moved from Xpenology) and I got myself an LSI SAS9200-16e to put 4 new sata drives of 10Tb.
I bought this card following the recommendations and did some reading but even with that, I am not sure I can do this learning curve without asking too many questions that mays be stupid to you!
Basically I have no cable with the LSI card, so I presume I will have to buy some, but will it even work? Also the cables are going OUT of the pc box ... I will need a longer cable to go back into the box. What cables should i buy then?

Thanks

If all your disks are internal, then you got the wrong card. Is this new retail, or did you buy one already pre-flashed to IT mode?

Cables are easy to find. Amazon has plenty of SFF-8087 to 4x SATA breakout cables. The one you found will work. However, please verify the HBA has been flashed to IT mode.

I prefer the cables offered by Supermicro like this:

They are very thin and easy to arrange inside your enclosure, yet in my experience 100% reliable.

Hi guys! Hope you are fine!
I just got the IBM ServeRAID M1015 card i ordered. I am going to follow the tutorial you send me, but this tutorial is from 2011 and I wanted to know from you if I still should follow it or did it get updated? Is there updates from the files the person stores in this post?
Thanks!

Oh God! This tutorial is probably the worst one I followed in years!... I will write one for dummies like me as I think I faced all the possible issues possible!

I now flash the card and Firmware version is 15. Should I update it? Also there is no image for x86-bios!!!!
