Hey all, running FreeNAS 9.10.2 U2.

I'm running a pool with 2 Striped SSDs (2x 1TB Samsung 850 EVOs), and noticed that one of the SSD's drive indicator light is constantly blinking. (The other one is showing no drive activity).

I've monitored SMART Stats over a week, and the one that's blinking seems to be writing somewhere between 5-10 GB a week.

I'm wondering what I can do to fix this issue? I'll happily post any logs or more information about my system, as I'm new to FreeNAS.

No, the System Dataset is on a separate pool (HDD for backups). /

What about the Syslog and the Reporting Database - are those boxes checked to save on the HDD, too? Though they would save to the boot pool if not checked. Are you booting from the SSD with the write activity?

Maybe one is being polled way too often for SMART data?

I'm not booting off the ssds, I have a separate usb drive as a boot device.

Maybe one is being polled way too often for SMART data?

How would I check that it's being polled too often for smart data? (I've scheduled a smart short test 2 days a week, but nothing other than that.

To be honest, I don't know, besides checking that the SMART query timer in the config is set to something reasonable, like 30 minutes.
